Alicia Bermudagrass
Alicia Bermudagrass hay is a popular horse hay because of its fine stems. It is a less expensive alternative to Orchard or Timothy hay for those horses that are fed grain or supplements. With less protein than Alfalfa, 8% – 10%, it is an excellent source of roughage for all types of livestock. Additionally, it is a good source of vitamin A and D without an overload in protein, and it has a better balance between calcium and phosphorus.
Alicia bermudagrass is a selected ecotype from Edna, Texas. It is more drought tolerant than Coastal and will establish rapidly. Like most of the improved forage bermudagrasses, Alicia does not produce viable seed, but it does grow fast when planted vegetatively. .
